The craze for two wheelers is on a rise in India. There are several brands and models available to satisfy every need however, this need differs with age, style and mindset when mapped with the specifications of the ride you choose. There was a time when Hero Honda Splendor ruled the roads. Every 3rd vehicle was a Splendor - well, we didn't have much options then.. Today, we find almost all brands moving around. Honda Unicorn has captured the market of all age groups thanks to the Honda reliability and silent engine, strong metallic body and low maintenance. On the other hand, every youngster loves riding a FZ because of the sporty look, easy maneuverability in traffic, excellent pick up and the 140/60 mm rear tyre that adds to the glamor. You'd love to watch the rider effortlessly brisking away at the speed range of 5 - 10 without loosing his balance and Cornering while he takes a turn because he believes those tyres wouldn't let him down. Now, that's what the present scenario demands - heavy traffic, pathetic roads/ no roads. you should be extra cautious during rains. Considering all the facts the requirement was of an optimum weighing machine with a fat rear tyre within a budget of 1 lakh. Yahama's FZ fits the criteria perfectly. There are other rides like Honda Trigger, Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS, TVS apache in the 150 cc segment who failed create an impact.
Suzuki's Gixxer which is supposedly being launched next month ( July) is the bike that has been designed by engineers who played a very important role in developing the GSX-R superbike as a result the end product does match the present trend. The styling of the bike’s exhaust, is borrowed from the Suzuki GSX-R. With telescopic shocks in the front, the bike boasts of a neatly carved meaty tank. The motorcycle has a large drum brake at the rear and a mono shock suspension. The clean looking tail, which adds to the sportiness of the bike, comes with body coloured grab rails and the tail light is a multi-reflector which according to me is better and more functions that the LEDs we find in almost all the latest arrivals. They more or less look the same.
Suzuki India will disclose the price of the Gixxer at the 2014 Auto Expo but we expect it to be priced between Rs 70,000 and Rs 75,000. Suzuki Gixxer will be launched against the rival FZ which has conquered the market as well as CBZ Xtreame new look which may woo the youngsters. We will love to find out how the competition takes a toll and who survives the battle.
Meanwhile, Honda may as well plan to unleash its beast which is based on the concept CX-01, a 160 CC variant. That will take over Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ. The date of launch is not yet discussed we should be able to find out by the mid of 2015.
Well, the market is dynamic, new variants keep coming in, how long can a consumer wait to get his hand on the ideal machine. What is this Ideal machine? I leave it to the consumers.
Thank you!
